This morning, President Trump stirred up his latest controversy when he took to Twitter to slander Senator Kirsten (D-NY) by insinuating that she had offered him sexual favors in return for contributions.
The tweet was in response to Gillibrand’s call yesterday for President Trump to resign over the sexual misconduct allegations leveled by nineteen different women so far. He’s been accused of acts ranging from sexual harassment to a horrifying allegation that he raped a 13-year-old girl.
Gillibrand shot back with a viral response, refusing to be intimidated or embarrassed by the president’s vulgar methods.
Now, the free press is trying to hold Trump’s feet to the fire over his vile tweet. Allie Malloy of CNN tweeted that Jim Acosta, CNN’s senior White House correspondent, tried to ask Trump about his Gillibrand tweet but was ignored by the president.
President Trump ignores question from @Acosta on what the president meant when he tweeted that Sen. Gillibrand would do anything for a campaign contribution.

Acosta responded to Malloy’s tweet and informed his followers that before he asked his question of Trump, White House Press Secretary and professional liar Sarah Huckabee Sanders told Acosta that if he asked Trump a question at the bill signing, he might be banned from future press pools. Acosta said he refused to be intimidated.
Prior to this morment, @presssec issued a warning to me. She said if I asked a question of Trump at the bill signing "I can't promise you will be allowed into a pool spray again." Sorry Sarah.. we won't be intimidated. https://t.co/RZgJpXpyEg

Acosta has clashed with Huckabee Sanders numerous times in the past, with the journalist refusing to accept the press secretary’s blatant lies at face value, and insisting on asking followup questions that she lacks the courage and honesty to answer.
Acosta also retweeted a photo and tweet from Mark Koller of CBS, which shows Trump leaving the room and ignoring Acosta’s question:
Heading for the door, Pres Trump waved off a question about his tweet saying @SenGillibrand "would do anything" for a campaign contribution. @Acosta said he had been told by @PressSec he might never again be allowed in a press pool event if he asked a question – he did anyway. http://pic.twitter.com/XmG1XjYl1j

Once again, the world has been given a stark reminder of just how cowardly our president really is. He refuses to answer for his own tweets, sending them out from the safety of the White House and then ignoring questions about them when he emerges into the public eye.
Likewise, Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s craven threat is a direct assault on the free press. The American people have the right to ask questions of their president. For her to threaten to cut off a journalist’s access because he wants to ask questions she doesn’t like is a betrayal of the public trust.
